this is ridiculous…..just a quick rant…..
i was dealt pocket aces again (second night in a row)….there were three people in the pot…i was number two.
there was a raise and re-raise pre-flop…….after the flop this donkey goes all in (no pair and no draw!).
i go all-in with my aces as there are only small cards on the board and the third person calls it (310 dollar pot).
the first guy (donkey) has 6/8 of hearts and the third guy has pocket queens….the turn is an 8 and the river is an 8….damnit!
luckily i won a hefty side pot as the first person only had about 70 dollars or so…..this means i still won some money because the third person had called my all-in and he had me covered.
so……to summarize…..
donkey boy catches runner, runner to crack my aces without anything after the flop and to top this off he leaves right after that hand (he was only there for about an hour max)……..two nights in a row is sure toughening me up!
one last thing……i was dealt pocket aces again later on..went all-in and had a caller (i only had about 40 dollars left).
the caller, of course, did not believe i had pocket aces again.
it comes runner, runner ace!….quad aces..woohoo 80 big ones….can you sense my sarcasm?!?!?!?!

hmmm……well….i got dealt pocket aces on the button in a 1/2 dollar no-limit holdem game with a 100 dollar maximum buy-in (woohoo or so i thought especially after building my stack up to about 190 dollars)
the guy in third position (we’ll call him 3 from now on) throws in a big raise (15 dollars or so)
it comes around to me, i ponder his raise and re-raise to 30 dollars
it gets back around to 3 and he, without hesitation, puts in 60 dollars
back around to me and i am all-in which 3 calls immediately (the pot size is now about 210 dollars)
we flip them over and he has pocket kings…woohoo again!
flop comes…all small cards two of which are clubs (one of my aces is a club)…swhew….no problem there
then the turn…..a king of clubs……damnit!…there is still a chance of a flush…..
the river hits a blank
poker is tough sometimes!!!!…..just have to get back on the horse….
(that’s it …. just venting)

I recently purchased a 16GB iPhone. At first I was worried that I wasted a ton of money but after using it for about a week now I am very happy with it. If you have 400-500 dollars to blow then I recommend getting one! I thought I was going to write some sort of review of the iPhone but I decided since there so much hype on the internet about it that I did not want to bore anyone…..oh yeah…the SDK looks promising for future enhancements etc…
Check it out at http://www.apple.com/iphone/

After playing and trying to get used to my PRS I ended up selling it and buying a new Fender strat…..
I picked up a second American Deluxe this time with a soft “V” neck for that 50’s feel that I know and love. Other than the “V” neck there is not much of a difference between this strat and my other “C” neck strat. I really only play two styles of music ( hard rock/metal and blues [mostly] ) and the “soft “V” neck allows for a little more speed. I also found and bought a well priced original Ibanez TS-9 tube screamer pedal for a little bit “hotter” of a sound through my Vox tube amp. I get ridiculed for selling my PRS (Paul Reed Smith brand guitar) but I just couldn’t get used to it even after getting new jumbo frets and putting heavier gauge strings on it……at the end of the day it is all about feel for me.

I have been having database problems on my web server (which I caused) so I have not been able to post. Here is a quick recap of the last month:
Exchanged my IPod for an 8GB Nano (2nd gen)…I wanted the longer battery life
Went to Vegas
Traded my car in for a Ford Fusion
…not much else……see you soon.

Yes…I did it….I upgraded from my 2GB iPod Nano to a 30GB iPod. I wanted to be able to carry most of my music with me where ever I might go and now I can (that is the only real reason I upgraded). The large size will get some getting used to but at the end of the day (this being the first) I really like it! I can’t wait to travel some where so that I can take a couple movies/TV shows with me as well.

You Will Need:
* A coffee filter
* 10 ml test tube with cap
* Thermometer
* 2 pipettes
* Fork and knife
* A banana
* A cup
* A funnel
* A Pyrex measuring cup
* 2 bowls big enough for measuring cup
* Laundry detergent
* Timer
* Salt
* Ice cubes
* Denatured alcohol, rubbing alcohol, or ethanol, chilled
1. Peel the banana and cut in half.
2. Put a half banana in the measuring cup and mash it with a fork.
3. Add ½ cup of warm tap water to the measuring cup.
4. Add 5 ml of laundry detergent to the measuring cup.
5. Stir it all up.
6. Fill one of the bowls halfway with hot water.
7. Check the temperature of the water. Add small amounts of hot or cold water to bring the temperature to 50 degrees C.
8. Place the measuring cup with the mashed banana into the bowl of hot water. Keep it there for 12 minutes (use the timer), making sure the temperature stays at 50 degrees. Stir the fruit mixture occasionally.
9. While you wait, put ice cubes and tap water into the second bowl.
10. When the 12 minutes are up, move the measuring cup to the bowl with ice. Keep it there for 5 minutes.
11. Put the coffee filter in the funnel, and place it in a cup.
12. Pour the banana mixture into the funnel and let it drip through to collect in the cup.
13. Use a pipette to transfer some of the filtered material into the test tube; fill it halfway. Add a pinch of salt.
14. Use a clean pipette to drip the chilled alcohol down the side of the test tube, filling it to 10ml.
15. Put the cap on the test tube.
16. Place the capped tube in the freezer.
17. Wait at least 10 minutes (but you can even leave it overnight to get more DNA).
18. See the stringy white goopy stuff thats DNA!
